Trek Description

Sandakphu Trek is a popular trekking route in the eastern Himalayas of India. This trek takes you through some of the most beautiful and scenic landscapes in the region. The trek can be completed in 6 days and 5 nights and offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan range.

Day wise Details and Description

Day 1: Dharamshala to Chamba

The vehicle will be arranged from the Dharamshala bus station, where it will meet and depart for Chamba. It is located in Himachal Pradesh's westernmost region, where the Chenab flows to the north and the Ravi flows to the south. The arrangements will be made at the guesthouse after travelling 270 kilometres.

Day 2: Chamba to Traila

Leave early, and the vehicle will be waiting for you in Traila. Enter the Pangi Valley, a scenic area rich in dance forms and natural beauty. Pangi valley is primarily inhabited by Bhots and Pangwalas. This valley is primarily inhabited by two communities: Bhots and Pangwala. Arrive at the destination and spend the night at the Tourist Bungalow. The arrangements will be made today in a guesthouse.

Day 3: Traila to Satrundi

Begin the trek to Satrundi by covering 15 kilometres through the lovely village of Bhanodi. Travel through the forest, with some inclines and declines, to the Satrundi campsite. Set up your tents and call it a night.

Day 4: Satrundi to Sach Pass and Bindrabani

Today is the most crucial day of your journey because you will cross Sach Pass (4500 m). The trail from Satrundi is steep, but the views of the Pir Panjal range, snow-covered mountains, and hanging glaciers are worth the effort. To get to Bindarpani, you must cross the glacier. Set up your camps there and call it a day.

Day 5: Bindrabani to Killar

Leave Bindrabani and travel to Killar, which is located at an altitude of 2400 metres in a deep and narrow gorge of the Chenab River. The surroundings are lovely and peaceful. Set up your camps here and call it a day.

Day 6: Killar to Purthi

After breakfast, proceed to Purthi. Today will be a long 24 km hike that will take about 6 to 7 hours. After 7 kilometres, turn east. Purthi is a wonderful place known for its forest nurseries and a rest house on the right bank of the Chandra Bhaga. Set up your tents and retire for the night.

Day 6: Purthi to Raoli/h3>

The trail from Purthi to Raoli is 14 kilometres long and takes 5 to 5 hours to complete. The trail has some ascents and descents, and it crosses the Chandra Bhaga River using a rope bridge. Arrive in Raoli and spend the night in tents.

Day 7: Raoli to Manali via Keylong (240 km)

After a hearty breakfast, board the buses bound for Manali via Keylong.
