Nubra Valley Trek is a beautiful and adventurous trek that takes you through the picturesque valleys and high mountain passes of the Nubra region in Ladakh, India. The trek offers stunning views of the Himalayan peaks, glaciers, and the barren yet breathtaking landscapes of Ladakh. It is a moderate level trek and can be completed in 6 days and 5 nights.
Leh serves as the trek's base camp. Traveling by road to Leh takes a long time, so take a flight and arrive there quickly. Our journey begins in Leh on the World's Highest Motorable Road (5500 m), which provides spectacular views of Sasar Peak and Nubra Valley. Visit Sumur Monastery in the village, then return to Disket to see the famous Disket Monastery.
Follow the left bank of the Hundar River, which flows gently through a narrow valley. The trail ascends in zigzags and passes through villages and fields. This is Wachan, please set up camp near the field and prepare for the day.
Leave Wachan and make your way to Sarathang. Climb gradually and cross the Hunda River via the bridge. A few Hundar dok huts can be found to the left. Sheep, Yaks, goats, and other domestic animals are examples. Arrive in Sarathang and spend the night.
After breakfast, take the right ascending trail to the glacier; the climb is difficult through rocky terrain. The glacier rewards you with breathtaking views of the Stok Kangri summit. The descent from here is long, and it will take 4 to 5 hours to reach Muru dok.
Continue along the Markha valley trail, passing through tone mills, a destroyed castle, and Techa's pristine monastery perched on a cliff above Markha. There are several streams on the way before the last valley settlements. As we leave Umlung village, we catch our first glimpse of Mt Kang Yatse, and the view follows us until we reach Kongmaru La.
Continue along the river after leaving the campsite. Begin the gradual ascent to Gyamtsa La, which stands at 4200 metres. Then, descend to Gyamtsa and enjoy your journey to Leh.
