Trek Description

Charang Valley Trek is a stunning trek that takes you through the scenic Kinnaur region of Himachal Pradesh. The trek offers panoramic views of snow-capped mountains, lush green meadows, and dense forests. The highlight of the trek is the Charang La Pass, which is located at an altitude of 17,352 feet. The trek is moderate in difficulty and is ideal for trekkers with some prior experience.

Day wise Details and Description

Day 1: Shimla to Kalpa

The journey begins in Shimla and continues through scenic Narkanda, Kurfi, and Rampur to the 'Jeori' hot water spring. To get to Kalpa, go through the dense woods. Apples abound in this region, and some of the best are grown here. Reach Kalpa for a breathtaking vista of Kinnaur Kailash, which rises towering at 6050 metres.

Day 2: Kalpa to Lambar

Today's journey takes us to Lambar, which is 60 kilometres from Kalpa. Today's destination is a historic hamlet on the rim of a steep valley. Return to the campground and relax in the peaceful surroundings. Tents will be used for overnight accommodation.

Day 3: Lambar to Shurting

Begin your trip to Kinner Kailash by heading north-east and following the stream after breakfast. Shurting is the confluence of two rivers that create the Lambar River. Set up your campers on this high ground and retire for the night after dinner.

Day 4: Shurting to Charang

Charang is well-known for its old monastery, the 'Rangrik Tungma Complex,' which dates back to the 11th century. Arrive at this lovely location and discover the exquisite surroundings. The campgrounds are located near the gorge of Charang village. Get there and spend the night.

Day 5: Charang to Lalanti base/h3>

Today, go deep into the Charang valley, begin the ascent, and accomplish the 8 km distance in 6 to 7 hours. Lalanti is an incredible campground with pasturelands and hundreds of blossoming flowers. The flowerbed is blooming with yellow and red flowers, and the sound of flowing rivers can be heard nearby.

Day 6: Lalanti base to Chitkul

From Lalanti Base to Lalanti pass is a tough incline, get yourself prepared early, after 3:00 am and leave to conquer this high pass. Traverse the challenges and reach Lalanti Pass, standing at a height of 5242 m in glory.

Day 7: Chitkul to Tabo

Currently, the route winds through the magnificent scenery along the Sutlej River's streamline, however as it continues, the road stops between the rocks. As you get in Tabo, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks. Set up your campers and call it a day here.

Day 8: Exploration Day

See the old Tabo Monasteries and Dhankar nowadays. It has a wonderful view of the valley and is a superb example of native architecture. Bhoti manuscript contains sacred Buddhist scriptures. Tour Tholing Gompa Monastery, which is very important to Buddhists. It is the largest monastery in the Spiti area, with beautiful paintings.

Day 9: Tabo to Losar

On the ninth day, visit the Key Monastery in Kibber village, which is located at a high altitude of 4116 metres. Kibber is the highest motorable hamlet, and it is here that you can see both Buddhist and Hindu traditions.

Day 10: Losar to Manali

After breakfast, travel to Manali through two high crossings, Kunzum La and Rohtang Pass. Stop for lunch on the way.
