Trek Description

The Buda Kedar trek is a 6-day trek that covers a total distance of approximately 45 kilometers. The trek begins from Gangotri, a small town in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, and ends at Ghuttu, another small town in the same region. The trail is moderately difficult, with steep ascents and descents, narrow paths, and rocky terrain. The highest point of the trek is the Buda Kedar Pass, which stands at an elevation of 5,150 meters (16,896 feet).

Day wise Details and Description

Day 1: Gangotri to Bhojwasa (3,780 meters/12,401 feet)

The trek starts from Gangotri and takes you through a gradual ascent along the Bhagirathi River. The trail passes through dense forests of pine and cedar trees, and you will have to cross several streams on the way. The trek to Bhojwasa takes around 6-7 hours.

Day 2: Bhojwasa to Tapovan (4,463 meters/14,640 feet)

Today`s trek is a steep ascent to Tapovan, which is a high altitude meadow with stunning views of the Bhagirathi peaks. The trail passes through a glacier and rocky terrain, and it takes around 4-5 hours to reach Tapovan.

Day 3: Rest day in Tapovan

Today is a rest day in Tapovan, and you can explore the surroundings or take a short hike to the nearby glaciers.

Day 4: Tapovan to Nandanvan (4,400 meters/14,436 feet)

Today`s trek takes you through a steep descent to the Nandanvan meadow. The trail passes through a glacier, and you will have to cross several streams on the way. The trek to Nandanvan takes around 4-5 hours.

Day 5: Nandanvan to Kedarnath (3,583 meters/11,755 feet)

Today`s trek is a gradual descent to Kedarnath, which is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Hindus. The trail passes through dense forests, and you will have to cross several streams on the way. The trek to Kedarnath takes around 4-5 hours.

Day 6: Kedarnath to Ghuttu (1,550 meters/5,085 feet)

Today is the last day of the trek, and it is a gradual descent to Ghuttu. The trail passes through dense forests and several small villages, and you will have to cross several streams on the way. The trek to Ghuttu takes around 6-7 hours.
